Tesla Driver Arrested In NJ Road Rage Shooting, Police Say

A 42-year-old Bloomfield man was arrested and charged with firing gunshots at another vehicle during a road rage incident in Montclair on Monday, June 17, authorities said.

Nelson Santos, who was driving a white Tesla, unsuccessfully tried to overtake the victims in their vehicle, and then continued following them until they pulled over at New Street and Washington Street just before 10 p.m., Montclair police said in a release.

Santos pulled up, got out of his car and pulled out a handgun, police said. The victim attempted to drive away, but Santos then fired two rounds at the victim's vehicle, police said. One round struck the rear windshield while another struck the rear bumper, police said.

Santos was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and remanded to Essex County Jail. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Joe Juliano at 973- 509-4724.
